New Heritage Square hotel approved by common council

Mishawaka, Ind. Just a few weeks ago, we first told you about plans for a hotel in Heritage Square.

On Tuesday night, the Mishawaka Common Council paved the way for the construction of a new Hampton Inn and Suites.

The hotel will be built right in the heart of Heritage Square, next to the Martin's Supermarket.

Property owner Holladay Properties says the four-story hotel will feature 100 rooms with parking and front access onto the square.

When the proposal was first introduced, owners said the estimated $1 million hotel will hopefully pull in Notre Dame game-day visitors.

Plans call for the construction to match the overall look and appearance of the rest of Heritage Square.

Which means it will likely have a similar exterior and decor to the already popular shopping center.
