The Massachusetts compounding pharmacy linked to last year’s deadly meningitis outbreak blames its cleaning contractor for the incident.

In a letter to Unifirst Corporation, officials with New England Compounding Center blame Unifirst Cleaners for mold and other contaminates inside the center’s Farmingham facility in October. But a spokesman for Unifirst calls the allegations “unfounded and without merit.”

To date, 39 people died and over 600 people got sick from the meningitis outbreak.
