City wide drug tests

Scientists can give entire cities drug tests by examining what people flush down their toilets.

A little water from sewage treatment plants gave Oregon State University scientists a good idea of community drug use in 10 unidentified American cities.

Researchers came to this conclusion on the principle that nearly every drug that goes into the body comes out in urine.

They were able to use municipal wastewater to find out which cities have higher usage of illegal drugs and even when peak days occur.
