A new study says America spends $200 billion a year on patients with Alzheimer's.
That news comes from the Alzheimer's Association.
140 billion of those dollars come from Medicare or Medicaid.
Part of the high cost is because Alzheimer's patients tend to need hands-on care, especially during the last phases of their lives.
Their care is also often complicated by the fact that patients often have more than one serious chronic illness, like diabetes or heart disease
The Alzheimer's Association expects costs to get much higher as baby boomers get older.
