Elkhart mayor to state: 'stay out of our business'

Updated: 04/02/2013 - About 75 county businesses have come forward, calling Elkhart's city mayor's proposal--to make city water and sewer rates a proportion of a business's assessed property value--anti-business. A state representative is working to add an amendment to a bill before the legislature to cap fees for commercial customers outside the city at 300 percent, which Mayor Dick Moore said would hurt his ability to protect the interests of Elkhart city residents.
