Mayor Buttigieg says he's overall satisfied with city budget

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg joined us on 16 Morning News for our Monthly Chat with the Mayor.

Buttigieg says he's overall satisfied with the budget the council passed.

"You know I think it's a really strong budget," Buttigieg said. "The city council passed it just in time, had to be passed by the end of October. It funds a lot of our most important priorities, a lot of things we talked about in the campaign. We've doubled the funding for dealing with vacant and abandoned houses, we have a million dollars to put toward that problem in 2013, we have funding to set up a 311 call center and we have a chance to really cement the reorganization of our economic development team. So we got, I'd say, about 95% of what we wanted."

Buttigieg says he was disappointed that the council cut funding for job creation programming but he believes we will have time to revisit that before year's end.
