A nine-year-old girl is still in the hospital recovering from second degree burns after a fire this weekend.
The blaze broke out just before 10 o'clock in the 22900 block of Leslie Lane, just off of Old U.S. 20.
Leigha Allen was staying at an Elkhart County home when the blaze broke out just before 10 Saturday night. Leigha has second degree burns on her hands and face, and will be getting skin grafs.
Her brother, 7-year-old Chaz Allen has been released from the hospital.
The Concord Township Fire Department reports there were five people inside the house at the time of the fire.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, firefighters believe it started in a room above the garage. It is believed the two children were inside that room.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about thirty minutes at the two-story home.
According to the Elkhart Truth, the home has close to $110,000 worth of damage.
