A woman was taken to a local hospital early this morning after her car crashed into a house here in South Bend.

The accident happened in the 600 block of 36th St. at around six a.m.

Police say the driver blew a stop sign at the Broadway and Logan St. intersection.

She then drove her car through and empty lot and alley way into the back of a house.

NewCenter 16 crews say this house was located roughly 75 yards from the intersection.

A woman was home at the time of the crash but did not suffer any injuries.

She told police that she originally thought the crash was an earthquake.

Police say the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

They also say speed was a factor in the accident and are not sure yet if drugs or alcohol played any role.
