SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Police have charged Teri Rigley, 42, with voluntary manslaughter in the August 12 death of a man whose body was found at Shirley Motel in South Bend.

Police say Edward Pierce was stabbed by Rigley.

On August 12, officers responded to a call at the motel for a welfare check on Pierce. When they arrived, they found his body in a guest room at Shirley Motel on US 31.

According to court documents, Pierce had lived in the room for five years. Rigley denies ever having been in the room, but surveillance footage shows otherwise.

Rigley is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on $500,000 bond.
