INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The National Weather Service says dangerously cold weather will settle over much of Indiana the next few days.
It issued a wind chill warning for five northwestern Indiana counties Sunday, saying wind chill values of 30 below to 45 below zero are likely from Monday morning through Wednesday morning.
The cold will be only slightly less severe elsewhere across northern and central Indiana. The weather forecast wind chill values approaching 40 below zero Sunday night, Monday night and Tuesday morning.
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard urged residents of the state's largest city to gas up their vehicle and stock up on food Sunday before the bitter cold arrived. The city also canceled trash pickup and curbside recycling through Wednesday.
