A missing South Bend man has been arrested for arson.

Douglas Wilcox, went missing after his home caught on fire.

He was charged and arrested Friday in Battle Creek, Michigan, at the Firekeepers Casino, for arson, a Class B felony.

The fire department responded to the home in the 21000 block of Sandybrook Drive nearly three weeks ago.

Investigators say the fire was intentionally set in the basement of the home.

The house was in foreclosure at the time, and Wilcox was supposed to give the keys to the new owner on the day it burned down.

The current owner was letting Wilcox live in the home while renovations were being done.

Wilcox was last seen in St. Joseph, Michigan, using an ATM to withdraw money.

Wilcox's daughter contacted police on August 19th. She said she received a handwritten letter from her father. The letter said, "I thought, screw it! Your mom built that house and no one else was going to get it. I hope the new owner had insurance!!!"

Bond is set at $50,000 and an arrest warrant was issued.
