Whole Foods has always been known as the place to find "natural, organic and healthy foods." The closest one to South Bend is not for a hundred miles.
Starting April 10 a store will open in Mishawaka. For local vendors, that means an opportunity to sell their products at the new store.
Forty different vendors met with Whole Foods representatives Thursday to share a sample of their locally made goods, and talk details about how they can become a vendor at a Whole Foods Market.
Vendors brought in everything from hot sauce to bread.
“We are here to meet with any local vendor in the area that might have products that we can get on our shelves,” says Store Team Leader Clark Burnett. “That is some of our initiatives at Whole Foods is to support the local economy through getting local vendors and pushing and being a boom.”
Any grower and supplier that is looking to tap in to the local market can go onto the Whole Foods website on how to join in.
