A Warsaw Police officer was injured Thursday after his squad car was broadsided.
Emergency crews were called out to the intersection of Sheridan and Colfax Streets in Warsaw just after 4 p.m. on Thursday.
Carrie Graves, 60, of Claypool, was traveling southbound on Colfax before stopping at the intersection. Warsaw Police Officer Sgt. Clay Layne, 42, was driving eastbound on Sheridan.
According to police, Graves hit Layne’s car once she proceeded into the intersection. Both vehicles spun 90 degrees and came to rest on the southeast side of the intersection.
The driver’s side air bags deployed in the police car.
Graves refused medical treatment, but Layne was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for injuries to his side and back.
The police department says the officer was on a routine patrol and had the right-of-way since he was eastbound on Sheridan.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash for Warsaw Police.
