PLYMOUTH A hometown favorite has lost her shot at competing in the world track championships this year.

On Saturday, Plymouth native Morgan Uceny finished 8th in the women's 1500 meter run in the U.S. championships. The race determined which three runners would represent the United States at the world championships in Moscow this August.

The Plymouth Pilot reports that Uceny finished with a time of 4:31. That's more than 25 seconds longer than the time that won her the Olympic trials last year.

Uceny says she was three months behind on her training this year because she was recovering from injuries from a fall at the Olympics.

Uceny is a two-time national champion.
