Two teens are dead after an accident in Marshall County Thursday night.
The crash happened on 12B Road east of Olive Trail. Authorities say 16-year-old Vincint Cody Poczik of Plymouth lost control and left the road, struck a guardrail, flipping the car end over end.
He and a passenger, 16-year-old Hunter Brandt, died instantly according to the coroner’s office. Toxicology results are pending on both of the victims.
Friends of the victims gathered at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church Friday to honor their memory.
"Cody and Hunter were both very involved in things at Plymouth High School,” said Aimee Pettreus, director of guidance at the school. “I think the kids will just have a hard time with them not being in the hallways with them. They were a part of who we are.”
Pettreus said that Poczik was a member of the soccer team and Brandt was a golfer.
“We offered services at the school today,” she said. “I was present along with other ministers and counselors. “We went into summer school classes, weight training, just to make sure they knew we were available.”
People also stopped by the scene of the crash throughout the morning.
“They said they could not identify his car because it hit the tree so hard,” said Plymouth High School student Matt Whaley of Poczik’s car.
Classmates said that Poczik had just gotten his license. His Facebook photo shows him holding up his license.
News of the crash has brought friends and family together to support one another, Pettreus said.
“Every community faces these things,” she said. “It's been a while since we've had to face this together. One of the benefits of a community like Plymouth is that we go through things together.”
