BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Strong winds off the coast of Lake Michigan on Sunday proved to be too much for one man.
Coast Guard boats were put on standby when the man flipped his sailboat off Weko Beach.
Witnesses said he was not able to bring the boat upright.
"The waves were high and the wind was strong and that's why he couldn't get it back up," explained Darwin Rodeman, who witnessed the rescue. "It took about 15 minutes or so to bring him back because he was a little ways down the beach."
No one was hurt.
