Two men injured in crash in Howard Twp.
Two men injured in car crash in Howard Twp. Monday afternoon.
At around 3:45 p.m. officials say Norman Smith, 45, of Niles was driving along Leet Rd. when he started to drift across the center line. A car traveling on the opposite side of the road, driven by Demetrois Athanasopoulos, 48 of Hammond, swerved to avoid hitting Smith’s vehicle.
Athanasopoulos crossed over the dividing line but could not manage to avoid Smith, crashing into his car head-on.
Both men were taken to St. Joe Regional Hospital for further treatment. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office believes that both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, and alcohol was not a factor.
