South Bend, Ind. Two lieutenants from the South Bend Police Department were promoted from within Thursday afternoon.
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Police Chief Ron Teachman promoted two officers.
Lt. Steve Smith was promoted to Investigative Division Chief. His division is in charge of major crimes, auto theft, robbery, burglary as well as the school resource officers.
Lt. Scott Ruszkowski was promoted to Uniform Division Chief. His responsibilities include overseeing several specialty patrols.
“We are officers through a woven combination through past and present being a position to make a difference that everyone expects and everyone deserves,” says Division Chief Scott Ruszkowski with the South Bend Police Department.
After the two chiefs were officially pinned by the mayor, family members could pin additional stars to their uniform.
