Two families reunited after almost two years

Two families are together Thursday night for the first time in almost two years.

Wednesday night the Al Husseini family was reunited at South Bend Regional Airport. The group is from Iraq and has been separated for the last year and a half. Some of the young cousins of the family met for the first time Wednesday night.

Omar Al Husseini said he was confused about the United States Government for some time, but they have given him something to look forward to.

“I just want to say to everybody that has helped me or that has helped any refugee from Iraq, thank you, God bless you,” said Omar Al Husseini.

Since June of 2010 the St. Joseph County chapter of the American Red Cross has resettled over two dozen families into the Michiana area.
