Police have released the names of two people found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Goshen.

The victim has been identified as Millicent Morros, 48, of Goshen. The Niles native was employed as a paralegal with Yoder, Ainlay, Ulmer, and Buckingham.

The man accused of killing her and then himself is John Eric Haitsma, 51, of Goshen, a former officer with the Goshen Police Department. Haitsma resigned in 1998 after eight years of service to operate his own business.

Police say the two had previously been in a relationship.

The shooting happened around 7:45 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of North 5th Street. Police found two people laying motionless in a parking lot on the east side of the road.

Investigators say it appears that after a brief discussion, Haitsma shot and killed Morros, and then took his own life with the same firearm.

The incident remains under investigation.
