Two arrested in connection with BP armed robbery

Two people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery of a BP gas station in Berrien Springs.

It happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday at the BP on M-139.

Police stopped a car on east Lemon Creek Road near Burgoyne Road for a traffic violation.

When they asked for identification, police found that the driver, 33-year-old Derek Bishop of South Bend, was driving with a suspended license.

The others in the car matched the general description of those involved in the armed robbery, just 24 hours earlier.

Police also found a weapon in the car that matched the description of the one used in the armed robbery.

They arrested a passenger, 30-year-old Anthony White of South Bend, on a warrant out of LaPorte County. He was charged with armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and fugitive warrant from Indiana.

Bishop was charged with armed robbery and a drivers license violation .
