LAKE COUNTY A rollover late Thursday night on the Toll Road created a mess for drivers and the people who had to clean it up.

Indiana State Police say that just before midnight, a tractor-trailer carrying animal byproducts rolled at the 20-mile marker, near Lake Station in Lake County.

70,000 pounds of animal parts spilled across the east bound lanes of the Toll Road, completely blocking traffic.

ISP dispatch says they had a hard time finding a company that was willing to clean up the mess, so they began using their own plows to clear the roadway so cars could get through. The road was closed for more than two hours during clean up.

Eventually a company did agree to properly discard of the animal byproduct. It was meant to be used for dog food.

ISP does not know what caused the crash, but they say the driver was not seriously injured.
