IN State Trooper Hit By Car

An Indiana state trooper was hit while trying to help a stranded driver this morning.

It happened on interstate 94 near the Michigan City exit in Porter County.

As Master Trooper Jeff Council got out of his vehicle, a Ford van side-swiped him as well as his vehicle.

The side mirror from the van was later found inside the squad car.

The driver says she didn't see the trooper even though his lights were on.

She was ticketed for failure to yield.

Council was brought to the hospital where he was treated and released.
