Residents of a South Bend senior living community took a ride down memory lane on Tuesday.
The Sanctuary at St. Paul's held a tribute to Route 66 on Tuesday.
Residents could relive moments spent traveling.
They ate dishes from restaurants located along the historical highway. Classic cars from vintage Corvettes to model-T's filled the driveway.
And sightseeing quickly led to storytelling.
Residents, like 95-year-old Agnus Marposon, began sharing memories.
“We didn't have emergency lanes then,” she said. “There were just two lanes on that highway 30, and my brother said pa, why did you do that? And he said I had to make room for that other car coming at me.”
Community directors said they enjoy putting on events like this.
They said it’s just another way to help residents celebrate life.
