Commuters traveling on the South Shore train line to Chicago faced delays Monday morning when service was temporarily suspended due to a derailment in Michigan City.
As a result of the derailment, the train line cancelled six rush hour trains scheduled to arrive in Chicago between 7:21 a.m. and 8:52 a.m. Service to Chicago was expected to balance out and resume to normal by early Monday afternoon.
Officials say Metra Electric accepted South Shore ticked passengers who turned to Metra Electric this morning when their trains were delayed and cancelled.
