Traffic stops lead to cocaine arrests in two separate instances

In two separate instances over the weekend, routine traffic stops led to cocaine arrests in Baroda Lake Township.

In the first instance, which occurred Friday near I-94 and Lake St, officers saw a white powdery substance being thrown out the window. Officers later found the substance to be cocaine valuing up to $1,000.

Officers arrested the male driver of the vehicle. He is currently held in the Berrien County Jail on five separate charges.

The second instance occurred shortly after at the intersection of I-94 and the D.C. cook overpass. Officers pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation, and three men inside the vehicle gave the officer permission to search.

The officer’s drug dog found 6 oz., or $6,000 worth, of cocaine in the center console/ dash area. The three men, all from Grand Rapids, are currently being held in the Berrien County Jail.
