Tornado sirens to be tested Wednesday

It may not feel like spring, but Wednesday, it should at least sound like spring. That is when tornado warning sirens will be tested in St. Joseph County. There are 67 individual sirens.

If the one near you is not working, you are asked to call the County Emergency Management Office. Officials are planning two separate tornado siren tests Wednesday.

“We are going to test it from between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 and 8 o'clock at night,” says Bill Zimmerman the St. Joseph County Emergency Management. “This gives families that are working during the day the opportunity to hear the siren go off and then see what their family is going to do.”

Siren problems should be reported by calling 574-235-9234.
