Starting on July 1, 2012, drivers taking the toll road will be paying higher fees as part of an agreement from when the toll road was first leased back in 2006 to raise the rates every year.
It will be a 3.5% hike on all fees, based on the past year's GDP.
Thursday afternoon, the Indiana Toll Road Oversight Board held a lengthy meeting. As part of that meeting, the oversight board approved the toll rate increase.
Last year, the rates went up by 2.95 %.
This year, the average driver will pay 40 cents more for the entire 157 mile trip, or a 0.2 cents per mile increase.
But drivers using an electronic transponder like the I-Zoom or I-Pass will not see a difference.
