On July 17, 2014, Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports vandals damaged several vehicles in and around Lawton and Paw Paw between 4:00 a.m. and 5:05 a.m.
Paw Paw PD investigated a report that vandals entered the Strength Beyond Gym in Paw Paw, throwing eggs all over the inside of the building.
It is believed that the same vandals threw eggs at the US Postal Office just south of the Strength Beyond, and there was at least one car damaged with a mirror torn from the car.
Lawton PD's first call was at 4:43 a.m., when a passerby reported an egg being thrown at their car. Investigation found tires being slashed on cars and eggs thrown at the US Post Office in Lawton.
Two homes in the vicinity of the Post Office also had tires slashed.
Lawton also is reporting damage to mail in the mailbox outside the Post Office.
They would like the public to know that any mail placed in that box between 4:00 p.m. on July 16 and 9:00 a.m. on July 17 has been destroyed.
Customers should take steps to mail those items again.
Van Buren County took a report of damage to a car on County Road 669 and M-40 Hwy, south of Lawton. In this case, the suspect vehicle was south bound on CR 669 at 5:05 a.m.
Paw Paw Police Department was able to develop persons of interest.
The three agencies involved are asking for public assistance in identifying the persons of interest in the attached picture. The male on the right was believed to be driving the small car dark blue or black. It may have had black rims and a loud exhaust.
