Three robbery suspects are off the streets of South Bend Wednesday night, all thanks to the power of technology.
Police say they busted the alleged criminals using a cell phone's GPS tracking system.
Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday two armed suspects walked up to the victim as he sat in his car in the 1800 block of East Calvert Street.
The man says one of the culprits hit him twice in the face. A handgun also went off during the assault, but no one was hurt. The pair eventually got away with his cell phone and some money.
Police used the phone's GPS to track them down to an area just over two miles west of the scene, at Calvert and Scott Streets.
After leading officers on a short pursuit, the two passengers, one a juvenile, were arrested for the armed robbery. The driver is also facing charges for fleeing police and assisting a criminal.
