Three home invasions in two weeks in Berrien County

An investigation continues into a number of home invasions in Berrien County.

The first one happened last week in Lakeside. The latest happened in Watervliet, where the suspects told the homeowners they were police officers to get inside the home.

In Lakeside woman, 61, was beaten before the thieves stole a large sum of cash.

Family members say they believe she was targeted and the suspects knew her husband was staying in the hospital while she was home alone.

Also this week on police arrested a man for breaking into a Galien Township home.

Johnathan Davis, 39, was allegedly caught in the act when the homeowner came home and tried to stop him by firing a shot into his rear tire. He was arrested a day later when he was tracked down in South Bend.

Neighbors say it makes you think twice after living in a quiet community most of your life.

“I’m keeping my eye out,” says neighbor Brian Ratt. “Maybe get a little protection in the house.”

The third home invasion happened in Watervliet on Wednesday night.

A boyfriend and girlfriend were at home when the suspects got away with some cash.

The suspects got in by lying and claiming they were police officers.
