On Wednesday at approximately 2:58 a.m., an officer with the Marshall County Police Dept. initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on US 31 at the intersection of Park St. in Lapaz.
During the investigation it was determined that the driver, 24-year-old Donjai Chandler of South Bend was in possession of marijuana.
The passenger, 24-year-old Michael Rucker of South Bend, was also found to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, and a controlled substance.
An additional passenger, 23-year-old Mitcheal Davis of South Bend was in possession of marijuana and a handgun.
All three subjects were taken into custody and booked in the Marshall County Jail on a $1,500 bond with a court date of September 16, 2014 in Superior Court #2. Marshall County Police Dept. was assisted with a trooper from the Indiana State Police and Lyons Towing.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
