Extra officers with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department can be found at Ross Beatty Junior Senior High this week. The added patrols are in response to a rumored school shooting set to take place Monday.

Last week, the school's superintendent relayed a rumor about the shooting to police.

A couple of high school students were named as the potential shootings. Officers went to the kids' homes and searched their social media sites, but came up with nothing. They concluded the threat was a rumor.

The additional officers were only added as a precautionary measure. They'll also be on site Tuesday.

Parents were notified about the threat Sunday night through a school alert system.
