Teenage mother arrested after being accused of hurting her newborn baby

A teenage mother from Plymouth is behind bars Thursday night, accused of hurting her newborn baby.

Diana Turner, 18, was arrested around 8:45 Thursday morning in the 200 block of East Lake Street. Her one-month-old infant was having trouble breathing, and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.

Investigators later determined that Turner had intentionally injured her child, just hours before emergency crews arrived. She was booked into the Marshall County Jail on battery and child neglect charges.

Her baby has since been transferred to Memorial Hospital. No word yet on the infant's condition.
