Teen sentenced to 18 years for pizza delivery robbery

Cass Co., Mich. The ringleader in the armed robbery of a Cass County pizza delivery man has learned his punishment.

According to our reporting partners at the Herrald Palladium, a judge sentenced Dylin Ackah-Essien, 18, of Chicago to eight years in prison after he was found guilty of eight counts, including armed robbery, during a trial last month.

Investigators say he and three others ordered more than $80 worth of pizza to be delivered to an abandoned house in Dowagiac.

When the delivery man arrived, the group robbed him at gunpoint and forced him to lie on the ground. They then took off in his car and stealing a laptop, and cash, among other things.

Fortunately, the victim wasn't hurt.

Ackah-Essien has already signed papers to appeal his sentence.

His co-defendants pleaded guilty earlier this year and received prison time.
