Lots of people will soon be rolling up their sleeves and doing a truck pull, and it's all to raise money for South Bend Schools.
The 4th Annual Our Towne Truck Pull is just a couple of weeks away, but there is still time to sign up and get involved.
What happens is, teams of 20 people will work together to pull a semi-truck the fastest. Along with bragging rights, the teams get to help bring new reading programs to the 34 schools throughout the city.
For the first time this year, all the Primary Schools in South Bend will have a special reading program in place thanks to efforts like this one.
“This is such an incredible feet for a school corporation,” says the Executive Director of the South Bend Education Foundation Susan Warner. “We're regionally the only corporation that will have this program. We're finally making it happen $1.6 million from this community. This community made it happen because it had to happen, because it’s fundamental. You must learn to read.”
The truck pull is scheduled for September 29.
