Tanker truck carrying chemicals tips over on I-94 near Pipestone Road

A tanker truck carrying chemicals tipped over in Benton Township, forcing police to close one lane of traffic.

Around 7:30 Thursday morning, a truck carrying liquid nitrogen veered off the roadway and fell into an embankment near Interstate 94 and Pipestone Road.

Police say the truck’s chemicals will have to be emptied before the truck can moved. Once the chemicals are released a large fog will continue to loom around Pipestone Road.

One lane on Pipestone Road will be closed until noon until the fog clears.

The truck driver was not injured.
