Swiss Valley has successful ski season so far

It's been challenging to predict the sporadic weather we've seen over the last two months, especially when it comes to ski slope conditions.

The ski season started late this year because of the weather, but things sure seem to be picking up nicely at Swiss Valley in Jones, Michigan.

They say that they have had more natural snow this year, and due to fewer warm ups they don't have to make as much.

They say are seeing more people coming on out, especially families.

Many were bearing the bone chilling conditions as skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes Saturday, and as always it seems to be about family.

16:53 “Grandma taught daughter, daughter is teaching her daughter and we will see them skiing together, and it’s not uncommon to see three generations skiing together here,” says Marketing Director, Jamie Stafne.

Even with a slow start to the season, Jamie says they are seeing more people coming out this year after such a mild winter last year.

But it’s not just skiing that keeps these snow bunnies coming back.

“I like getting hot chocolate and sitting over there and having popcorn over there,” says one skier, Ella Devine.

And while there are still a few good weeks left in the skiing season, some already know where they will be this time next season.

“If I’m able to walk and ski I will be here next year,” says skier Rich Brown.

Jamie's dad bought Swiss Valley back in 1968 so she and her 2 other sisters grew up working and of course playing on these slopes.

She said it is great because she will be out there with her family and see people she taught when she was younger, so the generations just keep on coming through.
