South Bend detectives have an armed robbery case on their hands after a student was robbed at gunpoint on the street Sunday morning.
At around 3 a.m. police say an 18-year-old student was walking along the 2400-block of Prast Blvd. when a suspicious looking white Ford drove past him.
The teen turned in the direction of a friend’s home when the Ford made a U-turn back toward him. The two men inside pulled out handguns on the student as they stopped. The driver then got out of the car and told him to quote, “drop your backpack and empty your pockets.”
The armed men drove away with the student’s cash, keys, and backpack full of schoolwork and an X-box gaming system.
