Big storms came through the Michiana area early Friday afternoon. The high winds caused wide spread damages with trees and power lines coming down.

NIPSCO is reporting that around 15,000 area houses are without power and Indiana and Michigan are reporting that more than 11,000 are without power.

NIPSCO and Indiana and Michigan are working to restore power to the residents and are hoping to do so by early Friday night.
