A St. Joseph County Deputy Prosecutor has resigned, facing drug charges in Ohio.
The incident happened Saturday, about a half hour northwest of Columbus, Ohio, in Shawnee Hills.
According to police reports, John Rulli and another man were stopped by police after they believed the two were urinating in public.
An officer says in the report that he saw Rulli reach into his pockets and throw something into the wooded area.
The officer investigated.
Rulli eventually told police he threw "marijuana and one hitter" to the ground. He also identified himself to police as an attorney with the St. Joseph County Prosecutors Office.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutors Office released this statement: "John Rulli, a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with our Office, tendered his resignation at approximately 3:30 this afternoon. As it is a personnel matter, we can make no other comment at this time."
Rulli is facing charges of possessing marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
