SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend School Corporation tells NewsCenter 16 that a very late special needs school bus was one of three buses stuck in the winter weather.
On Friday, Patsy Lamphier told NewsCenter 16 that she was never contacted by school authorities when the bus carrying her 13-year-old autistic son missed his usual stop by 2 hours.
South Bend Schools' director of traffic says the bus driver attempted to call parents, but her cell phone was out of service.
They also fielded calls at their dispatch.
In order to prevent communication problems with parents in the future, South Bend Schools have directed staff to send out an alert via "school messenger" anytime there is going to be a significant delay.
