The search for a new South Bend School Board member is over.
Monday, the board picked Maritza Robles, a former employee of the South Bend Community School Corporation.
School Board President, Roger Parent said that helped her case for becoming the next board member.
She was one of 31 candidates, which included two former South Bend School Board presidents, who applied to fill the vacancy.
The seat opened up after Stephanie Spivey resigned from her position early, after moving out of the state.
Robles is excited to get down to work.
"I believe that I still have the energy, the passion, and the desire to move forward in making this corporation better than what it is,” said Robles. I have had the best experiences in my life in being an educator all my life, and I can't just quit.”
Robles added that she is ready to get to work to help the corporation continue forward. She will be sworn in on July 11, 2012.
