A South Bend man accused of beating three puppies to death earlier this year and blaming it on a friend has surrendered. Joseph Perry, 38, faces two counts of Mutilating an Animal.
Sunday, Perry was released from custody after posting a $500 cash bond. He was arraigned Monday morning.
Back in August, a South Bend Animal Control Officer found three puppies that appeared to have been discarded behind a home on Ironwood.
Perry told police, and even went on camera, saying that he was out of town when the puppies died. He said he had left them in the care of a friend that he wasn't able to track down.
Perry will be back in court on January 3.
