South Bend man returns home after cross country bike ride

South Bend, Ind. It was a success. A South Bend man rode his bike across America to raise money for a women's shelter, and he's back to share his story.

Bill Bihlman biked by himself from San Diego to Virginia Beach to raise money for a women's shelter based out of Indianapolis.

Before he left in April, he trained at the Kroc Center in South Bend. He made stops at seven other Kroc Centers across the country. He topped his goal and raised 13,000 by peddling more than 7,000 miles.

“Yeah I think all around a success, just a great opportunity to see the country, to meet people,” says Bill Bihlman who biked across the country. “I think the highlight were the people I met along the way, just incredible with some really really good souls.”

After reaching his goal and reaching Virginia Beach, Bihlman continued traveling into Maine. He was gone for four and half months and says he would consider organizing another trip.
