South Bend man sentenced of shooting two people

A South Bend man convicted of fatally shooting two people last year was sentenced Thursday to 120 years in prison.

Last month a jury found Dabian Boyd, 18, guilty of two counts of murder in the deaths of his cousin, Mercedes Newbill, 22, and Newbill's best friend, Kalyn Farmer, 21. Both victims were shot and killed last May.

Farmer was found by a passerby who dropped him off at the hospital, where he later died. After Farmer's death, tips led police to the intersection of Napier and McPherson on South Bend's west side. That's where they found Newbill's body inside a parked car.
