South Bend Thousands of kids got ready for their first school day of the 2014-2015 year on Wednesday, but some of them had to do so in the dark.

It's back to school day for children of the South Bend Community School Corporation, but Clay High School students get to stay home, as the school copes with a power outage from Tuesday's strong winds.

Administrators say they made the decision keeping student safety in mind.

Clay is the only South Bend school reporting a power outage closure, and teachers were told to still report to work.
