South Bend Police seek pickup involved in fatal hit-and-run

The South Bend Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a hit & run crash that resulted in the death of Quentin L. Freeman in the morning hours of Sunday, August 24.

Freeman was operating a moped traveling southbound on Franklin Street at Dubail Street in South Bend when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, ejecting his female passenger.

The suspect vehicle continued southbound on Franklin dragging Freeman and his moped a considerable distance resulting in fatal injuries to Freeman.

As a result of an investigation, the South Bend Police Department is asking for assistance in locating the suspect vehicle, which is described as 1987-1996 Ford F-150 pickup, red and white in color.

This vehicle is a standard cab having noticeable rust over both fenders and at the lower body. The vehicle also has larger than stock tires, which raise the height of the vehicle.

The driver has been described as a white male having curly sandy blonde hair with a white male passenger. The suspect vehicle may or may not have damage to the front.
