South Bend Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man injured.

Shortly before 3:45 a.m., a victim with a gunshot wound walked into Memorial Hospital.

The 22-year-old male shooting victim told police he was driving friends home near the intersection of Lincolnway West and Olive Street. He turned left and heard four to five gunshots.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the elbow and a friend took him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, South Bend Police got several ShotSpotter notifications from the area. Officers found shell casings near the intersection of Longley Avenue and Olive Street, which is less than half a mile from where the victim was shot.

"Despite the multiple ShotSpotter alerts in that general vicinity, that was the one and only scene that was located," Capt. Phil Trent told Newscenter 16.

No one is currently in custody and there are no suspects in the case.
