SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The drive to improve the way a Michiana city looks is off to a slow start.
The goal of the South Bend movement was to repair or demolish a thousand abandoned houses in a thousand days.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced the program last year.
Since then, city figures show only 90 houses have been repaired and 44 demolished.
The city set aside $2 million for the project.
